I've been interested in natural history, particularly birds, since I was a young boy. After many years birding, which started in North Wales where I grew up, I developed a passion for photography. That passion is still burning bright approximately 5 years later. These days I would class myself as a casual weekend photographer in the attempt to juggle work, family and friends. For me, natural history photography is a way to step aside from the stresses of everyday life. My main photographic targets are birds and insects and I like to capture subjects in detail but also in the context of their habitat and behaviour.
My current kit bag includes:
- Canon 7D;
- Canon 300mm F2.8 L IS;
- Canon 100mm F2.8 L IS (new as of March 2011);
- Canon 1.4x and 2x converters;
- Gitzo GT3530LS Carbon Fibre Tripod (new as of September 2011);
- Epson P-3000 Image Viewer;
- Lots of compact flash cards; and
- Tamron Expedition 8x rucksack to fit it all in!
- Canon Pixma iP4700 printer
All my images are available for use and purchase, in JPEG or TIFF Formats; at resolutions allowing excellent quality A3 and A4 prints. The vast majority are also available in original RAW format, if required. As a strong advocate of conservation, I am happy to provide images to charities and trusts for no charge. Please note my images are the copyright of Matt Latham so please seek permission prior to using any of my work.
