Meditteranean Gulls Part 1

Wow, its been so long since I last ventured out in the field with the camera kit. So long in fact that I was actually worried that I wouldnt be able to use the gear anymore. Work and life in general has been a little hectic of late and sometimes you just realise that the hobby has to take 2nd place. A good friend of mine and I made a promise to ourselves this week that if the weather was good this weekend we would have a day out. So when Friday's forecast showed wall to wall sunshine, we picked our venue and headed out early yesterday morning. To steady myself back in to the swing of things I had chosen Scarborough in North Yorkshire as the destination of choice, and Meditteranean Gulls as the target species. We headed to a regular wintering spot for this gorgeous gull species and after a couple of hours had counted five different adults and at least three 1st winter birds. As usual the lure of a bit of food for them was exchanged with some very obliging posing and so the memory cards were filled once again. I will exhibit my best images over the next couple of posts but thought I would get things going with two images of a pristine adult winter against a background of bright blue sea. Lets hope it wont be another couple of months before my next piece of camera action!
